Simpletask Details

A simple task list manager that strives to have just enough features to do GTD, but no more. Based on the todo.txt app so a todo.txt file (http://todotxt.com) is used for syncing the task list to the cloud.
Can also be used for MYN/1MTD. See the screenshots for an example of how to use it for MYN.
Features
- True to GTD without unnecessary bells and whistles
- Todo list stored on Dropbox in the todo.txt format
- Comprehensive filtering and multi sort
- Quickly filter tasks using the left navigation drawer
- Save common filters in right navigation drawer
- Create calendar reminders for specific tasks directly from the app
- Share the complete tasklist or selected tasks using the Android share feature
- Tasks can deferred into the future. Combined with the "Show future tasks" filter it allows you to get tasks out of your face (as in 1MTD/MYN)

daniël bosold: When Dropbox is for a moment unreachable. What I mean are the pop-up notifications. I guess I need to say that other than this one thing (which I personally find a constant annoyance, but others may not) this is a fantastic app. Really.

Jason Mehmel: It does exactly what it says it does, and without complication. This is perfect. It's not trying to sell you an ecosystem!

Sun Sham: Need to support taskpaper. Please add support for taskpaper style. Like indent tab, dash, etc. I tried tested between simpletask and taskpaper but still really messed up like to lose dash and indent tab and add @done instead of 'x'.

Adri Sala: Perfecto I'd like to see more lua filter examples!!!

Eric Churchill: Excellent app! This is by far the best todo.txt app yet. Developer is extremely responsive. I reported a bug in an earlier version and he had a fix the next day. He's very open to feedback and awesome to work with.

Monty Kamath: Wish I could restrict dropbox access to app dir instead of all dropbox. Almost didn't use bc of full access. Also wish I could manually reorder tasks. So far pretty happy. Looking forward to dropbox app dir only permissions. I know you are working for free here. Really great work!

Vivek Venugopalan: Update - within 24 hours of reporting the bug, Mark Fixed it. No reason to not give it a 5 * --------------------- The latest version 6.0.3 has a bug where every time I archive tasks it creates a dropbox conflicted file with done.txt. I am not sure why. I am using it from a phone and tablet and this is an irritating problem for now. Otherwise it works great.

Reza A: It would be wonderful if you could add an auto refresh functionality specially when using dropbox. If the application is open, it will refresh correctly but the widget doesn't get updated automatically. I should also, thank the developer for his great app and the quick support!

Matthew Petty: Lovely and simple. I can edit my todo.txt elsewhere, and changes show up here. I must try and stick to GTD so I don't need reminders. Is there anyway to have reminders created for tasks created elsewhere? UPDATE: as stated below, this feature already works. For example, I can add a due date to a task created directly in a text editor, then when it syncs, Simpletask creates a calendar reminder. Great!

Vik Voinikoff: just works all I need for

Joshua Tenpenny: Great app, but can't edit offline! This app does exactly what I want, with just one problem. You must have internet to add or edit. You can view tasks offline, but there is no useful offline mode. I am switching to the offline-only "cloudless" version, and using Dropsync to keep the local file synced with dropbox. It is otherwise very good, so I am surprised at needing to resort to this clumsy workaround. Surely I am not the only person with spotty internet coverage!

Sander Teunissen: Great! The more "material" the better! I hope you are able to focus a bit on use with tablets too. The drawers for example are a bit wide there... Also due to more screen estate some things like tags etc could be expanded somewhere by default.. But again, thanks for this!

Ivan Savčić: Great app! Tried commercial, free and open source apps but Simpletask is simply better. Flexible configuration, extensible via Lua scripting. Doesn't have notifications, but hey, if you follow the GTD paradigm you don't need notifications: you come back to your tool of choice often enough. If you make Simpletask this, you won't be disappointed.

Michael M. Tung: Excellent todo tool Is better than most if not all other todo apps.

Carey Barnett: Works as advertised Very simple, with a few enhancements over the original todo.txt app. Love it.

Bob Lam: Getting better and better I have been using all sorts of productivity apps. It is always a painful memory that my beloved Astrid got knocked out by Yahoo! simply because they hate it. I used wunderlist to replace Astrid but the fear of sudden shutdown of my task memories keeping me away from it. Then I devoted most of my life into evernote and google keep. I discovered todo.txt and immersed into the plaintext productivity world. Simpletask is a great app that keeps all my task into a trusted place with ease of manipulation.

Gareth Buxton: In my view better than remember the milk, wunderlist, todoist, toodledo etc. I've tried the pro versions of all of these. The software has a sensible clean interface but is very customisable. It's ideal for implementing GTD. I just wish there was an app for the pc/Web that support todo.txt

Csaba Peterfalvi: Great app I will even make a donation, but why the missing fifth star? I don't know how the syncing is implemented, but sometimes you have to wait a lot for the changes to appear if they were made elsewhere. Even the weather forcast synchronizes well before I can finally access my up-to-date notes and edit them. There either should be some option to explicitly request immediate syncing, or it should sync every time I open my notes, like Colornote does. With Simpletask, it is just too easy to create conflicting copies of your todo.txt file if you edit it elsewhere too, eg. on your computer. Correction added later: the delayed syncing turns out to be an issue with the Dropbox library, it is not caused by SimpleTask. I have to give 5 stars to this app. Also because Mark, the developer was absolutely willing to help and solve to problem. Besides, for whatever reason, this problem with the delayed synchronization became less frequent recently. Maybe Dropbox got improved in the meantime?..

Lee Webb: Very close to perfect for a basic task list app that can be tailored for GTD.

Rita V: Works beautifully I love this app. Especially for the non coders among us, this and Ben's desktop app makes implementing text based to do files possible and easy. Now if only someone would come up with a widget that could integrate my calendar with my todo.text file life would be perfect.

Muhammad Saqib: Beauty is in simplicity There is no option to give more than five stars :(

Fer C.: Simple, yet versatile and flexible TODO list app It adds several extensions to the todotxt format that are absolutely essential to me. It's pity that most other todotxt applications don't support them (you will still be able to interoperate, though, since it's just a txt file, which is awesome). The only missing piece for this app to be perfect is a proper notification system when the task gets closer to its due date (or reaches the threshold). This is a must for recurrent tasks that might only need to be done once per month but you might not remember to do. The current implementation has reminders using the calendar app, but these have to be created manually and don't use the due date nor the threshold as the default date (at least not in my MIUI calendar app). It's not a big deal because most calendars allow for recurrent notifications, but it's annoying that you have to set up the dates and frequency twice, one for the todo list and another for the calendar.

Jamie: Almost there. A great way to manage your todo.txt on the phone, lots of good options too. I wish the widget was more customizable, I like the tiny font size.

Jorge Alberto Mussuto: Excellent condition this aplication

Vincent Wigh: Intuitive, works I use app on PC to edit todo.txt I keep on drop box. So this works out well to keep all in sync.

Duncan Lithgow: Almost perfect If you want a simple gtd task application this is the gnu software for you. Even better if integrated with Android notifications.

Gadgetboy PH: Simple and lightweight Only the essentials for getting things done. Great app!

john jeeves: Best todo app and great widget

Jason Gowing: Good implementation of todo.txt Just awesome

George Shammas: One of the best task trackers I am a fan of todo.cli, and this client is a fantastic interface for it. To the point where I sometimes wish there was a desktop client of it.

Dustin Dean: Great app I've tired almost all of the todo app on the play store. And this one is by far the best it's pretty much an updated version of todo.txt

Roberto Hoyos: Astounding! The app is so simple yet powerful. It has it all.

Shayne Holmes: Slick. Works great. Things that are awesome include the black theme (which is actually the reason I switched from the original todo.txt app) and the myriad sorting options. Love it!

Brandon Wood: More features than todotxt touch

Miro Mannino: In a word: Impressive

Ari M. Fromm: David Allen would be proud. Great app. Can reminders be set? Any plans of integration into Google Keep and/or Tasks?

Niels Kobschätzki: Great todo-manager I knew todo.txt and used to use the "official" client on iOS and Android. But this app clearly beats them both in looks and functionality. Great job.

Matt Muro: Awesome To-do Manager Love this To-do list manager. Great slide-outs to easily switch between filters, add/update tags, etc. Beautifully Done.

Mike Y: Simple and reliable Simple and therefore robust and easy to use. The best GTD app out there.

Ismail Rusli: Been trying tons of similar apps. This is the one. Excellent app.
