On top of each illustration in the shadow house book, there is a small symbol. Trace that symbol into the sigil to unlock levels. You must go in order of the pictures though. Another simpler way is to just look below the chapter numbers. The same sigil in the book will be under the chapter numbers. I touch the sigil over chapter 1 and still nothing happens.
